2nd Chemo Day Done!

cimg0357Finally, I have the second round of chemo completed! I am so excited to finally feel like we’re moving forward again. The oncologist nurse was able to reshedule me to come in this morning, but unfortunately I was not able to keep my follow up meeting with Dr. Kukinoor as originally scheduled. I will have to call tomorrow to see when I can get in there again next.

Chemo today started at about 11:30am and went until about 3:30pm. I had anticipated it being such a long, boring, tedious day. It was the complete opposite. I had friends that came to visit throughout the day and near the second half of the treatment, I dozed in and out of sleep. I guess my body really needed it in addition to reacting well to the IV benedryl they were giving me. Apparently, the chemo nurse was getting a little irritated because on two occasions I had more than one person visiting me (they like to keep it to one person because of the tight space).

On the way home, I was completely exhausted. I slept the entire way. When we arrived home, I made some lunch and cozied up on the couch. I woke up to Whitney calling out my name on several occasions because I kept almost spilling my food all over me from sleeping. Finally, I threw it away and moved to the computer. Same thing…I kept falling asleep at the computer and several times almost fell off the chair. I could hear Whitney calling at me in the background of my sleep to get off the computer and go to bed.

Next thing I know, I am waking up in the bedroom and Whitney is asking me about something. I thought it was 7:30am on Friday and told her that we had to go to some doc appointment. Oooops! Turns out it was only 6:30 or 7pm on Thursday! What a day…this is the most that I have slept in WEEKS! It felt really good and so far I wasn’t feeling any nausea side effects. Hurray! I am anxiously awaiting tomorrow to see how my body reacts to the new chemo that was incorporated, Carboplatin.
